1970 Seiko 7001-8009 Automatic Field Watch (Arabic)
1970 Seiko 7001-8009 Automatic Field Watch (Arabic)
From Seiko’s Daini division, this time only field watch is rugged minimalism with a militant edge. The dial is a crisp, almost pearlescent white, with subtle texture and contrasting print. With no date aperture, it offers an extremely clean aesthetic that's only heightened by the stenciled luminous Arabic numbers marking the hours. Over several decades, they have developed a tear inducing flat khaki patina. The hour and minute hands are polished and tapered batons that are easy to spot at a glance, and the slender sweep reaches right into the minute track. The case and lugs are one in the same with clean continuous lines on either side of a thin beveled bezel, and contouring that offers comfort on the wrist. We’ve paired it with an olive suede that highlights the dial patina, and provides a versatile fit and finish. It’s unpolished and completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and post service it’s keeping near perfect time. From April of 1970, it’s an affordable head turner that's sure to be a fast favorite in any lineup.
