1972 Seiko 7019-7130 Automatic “5” 21j Day/Date
1972 Seiko 7019-7130 Automatic “5” 21j Day/Date
We are always on the lookout for eye catching affordables, and this Daini “5” variant from April of ’72 is exactly that. The dial is a flawless charcoal sunburst with a glossy black and white minute track. It’s set with lengthy polished markers finished in clean white striping. At three o’clock is a framed day/date window in English and Spanish, and a large “5” badge below the Seiko logo. The hands are long and lean batons that are easily legible, and striped to match the hours. The case is a classic barrel tonneau with a brushed and beveled edge, and a thin bezel to frame the dial. Post service, the 7019 driving the hands is keeping near perfect time and has a strong reserve. The date can be quickset by rotating the crown in the second position, and the day can be set by pressing inward on the crown. We’ve paired it with a dark vintage chestnut that contrasts nicely against the dial and offers comfort on the wrist. Whether you’re looking for your first vintage piece, or adding a clean casual to your line up, you will not be disappointed.
