Seiko's UFO Sport Divers from the late 60's and 70's offer big and bold diver styling with pounds of vintage appeal. The UFO moniker comes from the “saucer” shaped style of the case, and it has long been a favorite of vintage seiko enthusiasts. This example from December of 1970 is a super clean stunner with an immaculate matte chocolate dial. The relief hour markers sport the original bright white luminous with no visible patina. The rotating inner bezel is a glossy black "count up" style that rotates smoothly in either direction via the crown, and is free from UV fading. Lengthy polished batons make for easy legibility, and the blaze orange sweep can’t be missed. The factory circular brush finish on the case is still crisp and it’s topped with a polished edge bezel with a slick black inlay. It’s unpolished and completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and post service it’s keeping near perfect time. We’ve paired it with a “Tropic Sport” style black composite strap for a period correct, and comfortable fit and finish. Versatile appeal and a work horse calibre come together in a classic sport diver that’s robust, reliable, and incredibly well preserved.
