From February of ‘77, this classic from Seiko’s Daini division is vintage casual at its very best. The dial is flawless, and it’s a smoky gray/brown sunburst with a light to dark gradient from the center out. The applied baguette markers are long and lean, and the beveled surfaces are polished to a mirror finish. Small luminous plots dot the end of each marker, and they are joined by a subtle white minute track. The hands are well proportioned, easily legible, and the original luminous material has a faint patina. A framed window displays the date, and it can be quickset via the crown in the second position. The case is a classic Seiko “C” with tapered lugs and a recessed crown at three. It’s perfectly balanced, and the thin bezel makes for a sleek low profile. It’s unpolished and shows only minimal wear. Post service, the 7006 driving the hands is keeping near perfect time and has a strong reserve. We’ve paired it with an oiled Sienna suede for a versatile and complementary finish.
