1967 JDM Seiko 6119-7010 5 Automatic Day/Date 21j
1967 JDM Seiko 6119-7010 5 Automatic Day/Date 21j
We’re always on the lookout for the coolest in affordable vintage classics, and this JDM mid-century casual is the very definition. The dial is a silver sunburst beneath a slick lacquer finish with nicely detailed applied markers. The hour and minute hands are polished swords that offer ease of legibility, and are driven by a tried and true calibre in the 21 jewel 6119A. The 6119 would be revised a couple of times throughout its production run, but it would prove to be a workhorse for Seiko that’s still offering dependability more than 50 years later. Meeting all of the requirements of the “5” line, this one has a recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position, automatic winding, a water resistant design, shared day and date window, and durable construction. For a bit of added appeal, this one was a JDM release with a Japanese only day wheel. It’s fairly compact in design, and extremely comfortable on the wrist. We’ve paired it with a desert tan RAF NATO for contrast and comfort on the wrist. The 6119 is keeping near perfect time post service, and it’s completely original aside from a replacement crystal. If you’re looking to add a vintage piece to your line up, this is the perfect place to start.
