1971 Seiko 6139-6012 Automatic Chronograph (Resist)
1971 Seiko 6139-6012 Automatic Chronograph (Resist)
At the crossroads of vintage and versatile sits Seiko's 6139-6010. This example from August of ‘71 is in amazing condition, and is as timeless in design now as it was making history as one of the worlds first automatic chronographs. The matte black dial is near mint, and is trimmed in a blocked silver minute track and sports the "70m Resist" demarcation only printed on earlier variants. The angular chapter is a glossy black and with its silver tachymetric scale, adds the right amount of sport to an otherwise casual layout. The case is textbook Seiko with great contours, a wide flat bezel, and the original circular brush finish still quite visible. It is unpolished, and there are a couple of small “dings” visible on the lower lugs. Post service it’s keeping near perfect time and the chronograph functions are smooth and crisp. Attached is the original triple hinged bracelet, making this one is completely original aside from a replacement crystal. A fantastic example of a historic Seiko that’s truly versatile and worthy of a regular spot in any rotation.
