1990 JDM Seiko 7002-700J Automatic 150m Diver

1990 JDM Seiko 7002-700J Automatic 150m Diver

$0.00

As production of the 6309 ended in 1988, Seiko introduced it’s next generation of 150m Sport Divers by way of the 7002. It is the direct predecessor to the SKX line of today, and owning one can feel like the perfect blend of old and new. An original example of this particular model however, can be nearly impossible track down. The 700J is the JDM variant, and as such was never available to outside markets. That paired with the fact that the majority of 7002’s available on the market today have been gutted and fitted with aftermarket dials, hands, and bezel inserts, finding an untouched JDM version has become something of a unicorn. The dial is nearly identical to the export version except that beneath the 150m rating, the jewel count is also listed. This example from October of ‘90 has the kind of patina that keeps me up at night. The markers and hands have aged to a soft gray thats even throughout, and the bezel insert has the perfect mix of color fade and wear. The case is unpolished, and the original factory finishes are still clearly intact. The case back is free of tool marks, and along with crown, screws down tightly. This is everything a vintage diver should be. It’s completely original aside from a replacement mineral crystal, and post service it’s keeping near perfect time. Though not the original, the bracelet is a period correct and genuine Seiko “Jubilee” that we’ve had set aside for a deserving recipient. I can’t picture a better pairing, and we’re sure you’ll agree.
