1965 Seiko 6206-8060 Automatic Weekdater
1965 Seiko 6206-8060 Automatic Weekdater
A clean and elegant, mid-century classic should be a staple on any roster. This scarcely seen Weekdater from September of ‘65 is about as good as it gets. The straightforward case design with beveled lugs and a thin, sloped bezel creates an “all dial” display, and what a dial to showcase. A silvery white sunburst, its finished with a glossy lacquer top, along with polished applied baguettes, and applied Arabics at the corners. A subtle minute track sits just beyond the markers, and a nicely proportioned day/date window resides at three. Along with the Seiko badge, just two other lines of small neat text are featured, and framing it all, a thin polished and fluted chapter. The hour and minute hands are long and tapered dauphines with a sharp bevel, and a slender sweep counts off the seconds. At just under 36mm, it’s built for comfort, but with presence to spare. It’s completely original aside from a replacement domed acrylic crystal. The case is unpolished with crisp corners and lines, and the embossed etching on the screw down case back are still clearly visible. We’ve paired it with a smooth midnight blue leather that highlights the dial, and provides comfort and versatility on the wrist. Post service its keeping near perfect time with ample reserve. A powerful casual with timeless appeal, we’d urge you to stay away from this one if you don’t like drawing attention.
