Seiko's UFO Sport Divers from the late 60's and 70's offer big and bold diver styling with pounds of vintage appeal. The UFO moniker comes from the “saucer” shaped style of the case, and it has long been a favorite of vintage seiko enthusiasts. This example from August of ‘73 is a clean, strong stunner with a textured matte black dial, and relief hour markers of creamy luminous. The rotating inner bezel is a glossy black "count up" style that rotates smoothly in either direction via the crown. Lengthy polished batons make for easy legibility, and the honey gold sweep can’t be missed. The factory circular brush finish on the case is still crisp and it’s topped with a polished edge bezel with glassy black inlay. It’s unpolished and completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and post service it’s keeping near perfect time. We’ve paired it with a “Tropic” style aqua blue composite strap for a period correct finish that highlights the only spot of color on the dial. Versatile appeal and a work horse calibre come together in a classic sport diver that’s as robust as it is reliable. A perfect summer companion, its bound to have a starting position on any roster.
