1993 Pulsar W810-0010 Quartz LCD 100m Timer-Chrono-Alarm
While it may be a bit out of our wheelhouse, there’s no denying a resurgence in the “90’s aesthetic.” Consider this our contribution, and one admittedly encouraged by personal nostalgia. This Pulsar W810-0010 is the epitome of the feature packed, LCD graphic display wristwatches that were a defining technological symbol of the late 1980’s and early 90’s. Seiko and it’s subsidiary, Pulsar, along with Casio churned out colorful designs with digital animations that made watches feel like a video game for the wrist (yes, actual video game watches were also eventually a thing). For many, these were the pieces that first sparked our obsession with watches. The display couldn’t be too busy, and as many features as could be packed in were certainly welcomed. When this Pulsar arrived in my shop in near mint condition some 30 years after its production, it was a piece of memorabilia I just couldn’t bring myself to shove in a drawer and forget. It’s as fun and practical as it ever was, and features a time, year, month, date, and day of the week display with an alarm and chime indicator. It has a countdown timer, 1/100th sec. chronograph with hours, laps, and a recall, as well as an alarm feature. All of which are graphed with animated displays. I disassembled and carefully cleaned the connections and battery terminal, and installed a new battery. I also cleaned all of the case components and applied silicone to the pushers and case back gaskets. Whether you’re looking for a great addition to your 90’s accoutrements, just looking to relive a moment from your youth, or hoping to inspire the next budding collector, this little time traveler is in spectacular condition, and completely original down to the composite strap and crystal.
