1970 Seiko 6106-8227 "Rally" 70m Sport Diver
1970 Seiko 6106-8227 "Rally" 70m Sport Diver
Seiko produced no shortage of sport divers in the late 60's and 70's, but none so memorable and as sought after as those that carry the "Rally" distinction. So named for their checkered bezels and dials, they are an instantly recognizable combination of color and cool. This example from August of 1970 is in unbelievable condition. It is immaculate with only the lightest signs of wear. The bezel is flawless, and sits above a perfect matte black dial with a crisp blue and white checked minute track. The luminous material on the applied markers is still a bright white and shows no signs of degradation. The polished hands offer great contrast, and are accompanied by the bright fluorescent orange of the sweep second. The barrel case bears all of its original factory finishes with crisp lines and sharp edges. Attached is the scarcely available original bracelet with it's dual finish. The hacking 6106C is a workhorse calibre that's robust, dependable, and keeping near perfect time. For the serious collector, this one checks all the boxes and will be a hard example to top.
