1971 Seiko 6139-7002 Automatic Chronograph (Resist)

1971 Seiko 6139-7002 Automatic Chronograph (Resist)

$0.00

A versatile vintage chronograph, the 7002 is perfect for those looking to find one watch for all occasions. The case offers a slimmer profile than most others in the 6139 line up, and its soft tonneau shape is comfortable and well proportioned. At 41mm, its not overpowering, but has plenty of presence on the wrist. The bezel is polished and beveled for a clean finish, and beneath it is a matte black dial with a nice balance of text and color. This example from July of ‘71 is an absolute stunner. The matte black dial is immaculate, and at its edge is a white block minute track followed by deep orange 1/5 second hashes. As it’s an early variant, it carries the 70 meter “Resist” designation that creates a nice balance against the day date window. A fixed inner decimal bezel frames it all, and offers perhaps one of the most useful layouts for the chronograph. Dividing a minute into 100 equal parts allows for determining anything from sports statistics to production cost at the touch of a pusher. The original luminous material on the markers and hands has developed a light and even patina, and the bright white hour and minute hands are easily legible. The chronograph hands standout in bright orange and are free of chipping or paint loss. The 6139B is keeping near perfect time post service, and the chronograph functions are crisp and responsive. It comes attached to the original rolled link “fishbone” bracelet for a seamless and complete finish. It’s completely original aside from a replacement crystal, and though it plays well with others, is likely the only watch you’ll ever need.
